Meter Maids were introduced
in April 1965 when newly introduced parking meters were considered detrimental
to the tourist visitor. These girls were given five cent money from the
retailers and accommodation traders to feed the expired meters and prevent
the motorists from getting a ticket. The girls are seen here standing
